An unusual tale of suspense between a schoolteacher (Anna) and a good-looking ex-con (Brent) whose connection was forged many years earlier through letters when the heroine’s father was in prison with Brent. I found myself enjoying this story quite a lot and the circumstances in which they came together – just as we get to see all the layers peeling back.

There were several jarring things which made me take a step back – such as the weird, almost child-like portrayal of Anna’s mother and slight grammatical errors – but these don’t detract from the fact that the story is very well-written and quite brilliantly conceived.
