Who’s reading & writing?
Reader. Some-time writer, as the crow flies. Quite possibly emotionally stunted. Thinks the world of cats. Too young or old to know better, depending on which side you take. Introverted. Internet-addict. Adores Scandinavian-minimalist-chic. Thinks tea, cats and chocolate rule the world.
You can call me Dísir. Or Pip. I answer to both.
By day, I hold a job that ensures my bills don’t go unpaid. When the sun goes down however, that’s when the fun really begins.
In case this looks more exciting than you think, I’m knee-deep and lost in IT-speak most nights, trying to figure out the weird and wonderful world of blogging and social media.
Unstuck Pages is my personal book review blog and began after a sleepy morning cup of tea, when a lightbulb went off in my head and illuminated the idea that I could actually start a blog to catalogue my reviews of books that I’ve read. I’m not new to reviewing; in fact, there are many reviews that are being updated as you read this. Nothing much has changed in the way I write my reviews; they will continue to be posted on Goodreads, NetGalley and Edelweiss and they’ll remain honest representations of what I really think about those books.
Thankfully, Netgalley doesn’t believe I’m a complete fraud and has even granted me these badges to prove it.
There’s little that I don’t read; after spending years stuck in the pages of academic writing, pulp fiction is a welcome reprieve and I don’t see an end to it. These days however, I find myself gravitating towards several romance subgenres and these include (but aren’t restricted to) romantic suspense, mysteries, urban fantasy and thrillers.
Like many other book reviewers, I do have hard limits and personal preferences. You can read more about them here. I do ask though, of authors who ask me to review their ARCs, to be mindful of these preferences as they may affect my ratings and reviews of your work.
Is Unstuck Pages seeking book-reviewing world domination?
I hope so.
As the blog grows, I’m hoping to add more features to it: blog tours, author features and more. Keep your eyes peeled.
