Derek aka Phoenix is a New York City fire fighter and has dedicated his life to saving people. When he loses two of his men in the line of duty, he doesn’t know if he’ll be able to see the light again.
However, when an angel in the form of a woman named Fia appears before him, his world as he knows it is turned upside down.
Fia has been working hard to make money so she can finish her last semester of school. A fire in her building sets her back to square one, but the fireman who saves her turns out to be more than she ever expected.
Once he gets his arms around her, there’s no letting go. Because when you’ve got your forever in your arms, nothing else matters.
Short, sweet and unapologetically a proponent of instant-love and a fall into a devoted relationship very soon after meeting. I wasn’t too sure what to think about this at all, and the lack of depth, the brevity, the abrupt rush into marriage (!) were simply minus points for me.
But Fia and Derek were sweet and their relationship tame – albeit a little too sweet without very much edge. A huge draw here however, would simply be the lack of usual shenanigans of manwhoring, slut-shaming or any other ridiculous behavioural traits that would end up with me liking the plot more than its distasteful characters and consequently leaving a review that’s mixed at best, or wholly negative, at worst.
So ‘Holding His Forever’ hovers between a 2- and 3-star read, but only because of the underdeveloped plot.
